Top 5 Easy, Tasty and Healthy Non-Vegetarian Oats Recepies

In the previous blog of mine I had shared some really awesome vegetarian oats recipes. But for you non-veg lovers, who want to make their oats adding in that extra protein and make them even much healthier and tastier, I have shared some really amazing non-veg recipes of oatmeals here which you can’t resist to try. So have a look.

1. Oats and chicken porridge

This recipe is perfect for lunch and for someone opting for a quick and easy recipe to make in 20-25 minutes. It’s full of protein and delicious to taste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • Chicken breasts (2)
  • 1 browned onion
  • butter
  • 1 tsp cumin and mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and 1 tbsp oil
  • 3-4 finely chopped green chilies.
  • 1 tsp red chili powder, turmeric and black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Chopped coriander for garnishing

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame for a while and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and ginger garlic paste and sauté them well.
  2. Add the chopped green chilies.
  3. Chop the chicken breasts in small pieces and add them to the pan and mix well.
  4. Now go on and add turmeric, red chili powder, black pepper and salt and mix well.
  5. Once the spices are cooked add oats and mix well.
  6. Now add 2 cups of water and mix well until the chicken is cooked.
  7. Once the chicken and oats are properly cooked and the water is soaked, add in browned onion, coriander leaves, butter and lemon juice and mix well again.
  8. Transfer the porridge in a serving bowl and garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

2. Oats Egg Bhurji

If you’re an egg lover and love to have oats as well, you definitely have to try this recipe because when I did it was love at first bite. Have a look at the ingredients of this oats recipe and the steps.

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp cumin and mustard seeds
  • 2 chopped green chilies
  • 4-5 chopped garlic cloves
  • 10-15 spinach leaves
  • 1 tsp red chili powder, turmeric and black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a cooking pan and add cumin and mustard seeds to the heated oil.
  2. Add the chilies and garlic cloves and sauté.
  3. Add the onions and tomatoes and sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Once that’s done, add the red chili powder, turmeric, black pepper powder and salt and cook the spices properly.
  5. Add eggs and mix well
  6. Add cooked oats and spinach and mix well.
  7. Cook it for a while and serve hot.

3. Egg fried rice with oats

If you’re a rice lover (like me), this oats recipe is for you. This recipe is perfect for dinner though you can have it for any meal of the day.

Ingredients: 

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white/brown as preferable)
  • 1 cup oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 2 small chopped carrots
  • Chopped cabbage
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp red chili powder and black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

Steps:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin to the heated oil sauté well.
  2. Add the chopped onions, carrots, cabbage and oats. Add red chili powder and black pepper powder and mix well.
  3. Add salt and cook the vegetables and oats until they get properly cooked.
  4. Put on a lid on the pan and cook the mixture well.
  5. Add the eggs along with yolk and make a scram
  6. Once that’s ready, add in the cooked rice and give a good stir.
  7. Cover the pan with the lid again and cook the entire rice and mixture well again.
  8. The egg fried rice with oats is ready to serve hot.

4. Banana oat walnut bread

How can I not include a sweet recipe, and especially if it consists of oats? Have a look at the ingredients and steps.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2-3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3-4 chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder

Steps:

  1. In a mixing bowl add in all the dry ingredients- flour, sugar, baking powder, oats, salt and mix well.
  2. Add in other ingredients- mashed banana, eggs, walnuts and vanilla extract and whisk it all really well until you get a thick batter.
  3. Now pour the batter in a baking tray greased with butter.
  4. Hop the tray into an oven and bake the bread for about 30-40 minutes and check with the toothpick if it comes out clean from the centre of the bread.
  5. Allow it to cool and enjoy your oats banana bread.

5. Healthy oats brownie

Because one dessert oats recipe is not enough.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup oats
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • Oil

Steps:

  1. In a bowl whisk the eggs properly
  2. In a separate bowl whisk peanut butter and sugar together
  3. In the same bowl add in the cocoa powder, cinnamon powder, vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Now add in the whisked eggs and add in the oats in the mixture.
  5. Add the mixture in a microwavable mug and hop it in the microwave for 5-8 minutes until is properly baked.
  6. Your healthy brownie is ready and serves as the best dessert.
